Each year we hold 3 major events; The School Sports Festivals, The Sport for All Festival and The annual Sports Awards.

Primary Schools Sports Festivals
This series of competitions, aimed at P2 to P7 Primary School pupils, which attracted approx. 3100 pupils from 41 local primary schools in 2014 was organised by the Sports Council in partnership with Fife Council’s Community Services, Fife Active Schools, Fife Sports and Leisure Trust and was supported by the Carnegie Dunfermline Trust.
This long established Festival series, possibly the most extensive in Scotland, runs from January to December, involving 8 sports (athletics, badminton, basketball, bowls, cricket, hockey, orienteering and tennis) with a mixture of indoor and outdoor competitions. Some competitions are used as qualifying events for Regional and/ or Scottish events.
Local clubs provide coaches, officials and equipment, while some High School pupils are recruited by Active Schools to assist on the day.
All pupils receive the traditional participation certificates. Presentations are made at each event or at the award winning school whichever is most appropriate. The local press coverage is excellent throughout the year.
Points are awarded to each school for participation with the first three placed schools gaining extra points leading to the annual Sports School of the Year Award which is presented at the Awards Ceremony usually in February in the Glen Pavilion.

Come and Try - Free Sporting Events
The well established annual 10 day Sport For All Festival in September traditionally offers a variety of fun & fitness activities for all the family plus a host of competitive events at local leisure centres, club facilities and parks.
A varied and complimentary programme of activities, some offered free, is also arranged by the local Community Use Schools managers.
The Festival, includes displays & come & try sessions as well as national competitions such as the Forth Swim & the Young Athletes Trophy Meeting.
Many sessions are free to visitors whether as a participant or as a spectator & all are aimed at stimulating interest & participation in sport

Annual Sports Awards
For over 20 years we have recognized the sporting achievements of Dunfermline & West Fife athletes from Regional Champions to National and Olympic and Paralympic Champions.
We currently have eight categories of award, for teams, coaches, administrators, masters, schools & individual athletes.
Nominations can be made by clubs, individuals & the general public & our Publicity & Events Sub Committee trawl the past years local papers to identify possible candidates.
A neutral panel of local sports experts makes the final selection which, like the Oscars, are not announced until the evening of the ceremony.
The Awards evening attracts approximately 160 invited guests to the ceremony to celebrate the achievements of local athletes, coaches and administrators.
